Abstract

The study aims to identify occupational health and safety in its dimensions (health and safety policy, commitment of senior management, healthy work environment, investigation of work accidents and injuries and training) and its role in strengthening the organizational commitment of employees in private hospitals in Taiz. The study population consists of all employees in private hospitals in the city of Taiz, whose number is (708). A stratified random sample of (249) was chosen from the original population. A questionnaire is distributed to it after verifying its validity and consistency, which consisted of two axes: the axis of organizational commitment with three dimensions and the axis of quality of health services with five dimensions. (227) questionnaires are recovered from them, and (8) questionnaires are excluded because they are not valid for statistical analysis. Accordingly, the sample for which statistical analysis is performed reached (219) male and female employees.

To achieve the objectives of the study, the descriptive and approach is used, and a number of statistical methods are used, such as arithmetic means, standard deviations, Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression coefficient.

The most important results of the study:

- Occupational health and safety in private hospitals in Taiz is practiced at a medium level, while the level of organizational commitment for employees was high.

- There is a moderate correlation between occupational health and safety and the organizational commitment of employed in the surveyed hospitals.

- The presence of a statistically significant impact for each of the two dimensions of the healthy work environment and training on the organizational commitment of the employees, while there is no effect for the remainder of the dimensions.

Some recommendations of the study are:

 - The need for managers of the surveyed hospitals to pay attention to the implementation of training courses on an ongoing basis for workers to familiarize them with health and safety risks and ways to prevent those risks, because this has great impact on enhancing the manifestations of organizational commitment of workers.
