Abstract

This research studies the method of Weighting the conflicting texts of Al-Hafiz Zain Al-Din Al-Iraqi and his son Abi Zara’a, through their book, Tarh al-Tathreeb.

This research was conducted in an introduction and three topics were mentioned in the introduction, the definition of the Weighting concept, its legitimacy, conditions, and aspects of Weighting. And in the first section I discussed Weighting by considering the chain of narrators, such as Weighting by the narrators’ ability to memories, Weighting by number the narrators, Weighting by favoring the correct chain of transmission first, and Weighting by favoring the author of the story, and in the second topic, I discussed Weighting by considering the text, such as Weighting by prioritizing the saying over the action, Weighting by rejecting the anomalous narration, and Weighting by giving preference to the affirmative over the negative. And in the third topic, I discussed the weighting with matters outside the text and the chain of narrators, such as weighting in accordance with the fundamentalist principle, and weighting for the sake of interest.
