Verbal Verbs in the Holy Qur’an: An Applied Study in Surat Al-Insan

Abstract

This study aims to classify the verbal verbs in Surat Al-Insan according to Searle’s classification of them, and to know their achievement and impact in the surah, and then to identify the method of the Holy Qur’an, which seeks to change human life and reality for the better and more beneficial life. The main function of all language, as can be seen through pragmatics and the theory of speech acts in particular, is not only to describe reality, but to seek to change and construct it. The Holy Qur’an uses these actions in order to change the life of the human being and elevate him in the paths of human perfection. Moreover, building a new reality based on the faith in God and the preparation for the Last Day where eternal life and eternal bliss will be. This is what this study will address through Surat Al-Insan.

      The research used the descriptive analytical method. The study has found a number of findings, the most prominent of which are: the presence of verbal verbs in this surah in a remarkable presence, and the multiplicity of their achievements and impact purposes according to the context. However, all of them serve for the advancement of Man and to lead him to the pleasure of Allah and the bliss of his heaven.
